Uldis Cērps

Starting from October 1st, 2024, Uldis Cērps will take over the leadership of Finance Latvia as its Chair of the Board. Finance Latvia is an industry advocacy organisation whose members include banks, leasing companies, asset managers and FinTecs. Uldis Cērps is an internationally recognized expert in finance with extensive management experience.

Uldis Cērps has over 30 years of professional experience in the financial sector. He was the first Chair of the Financial and Capital Market Commission of Latvia and led it for 8 years since the authority’s establishment in 2000. From 2008 to 2017, he has worked at the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority where he was a member of senior management team and served as Executive Director for Banking Supervision. Uldis Cērps has represented the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority at the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and the European Banking Authority, leading several international working groups. He has also been actively involved in the Financial Stability Board and has served for 6 years on the Audit Committee of the European Investment Bank. Uldis Cērps most recent position is at the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, where he serves as an Advisor to the Governor.

I extend my gratitude to Sanita Bajāre for the five years she served as the Chair of the Board, which have been both challenging and dynamic, and wish her success in her future endeavors.”

Commenting on his appointment, Uldis Cērps stated:

“One of my main priorities will be to continue strengthening cooperation with the policymakers and dialogue with the society at large, while actively participating in the European Union’s legislative and international standard-setting processes. Our common goal of the financial sector is to promote long-term welfare of our people, as well as entrepreneurs by ensuring the access to high quality and modern financial services.”

Uldis Cērps will take over the leadership of the FNA from the current Chair of the Board Sanita Bajāre, who has led the organization since 2019.

The Finance Latvia Board member, Jānis Brazovskis, continues his work unchanged.
